Women advances to Afghan media
Today, I read an article in Asahi newspaper.
The article is about Afghan media.
According to the article, in Afghanistan, freedom of speech and the right of the journalists are often violated by the people who have influence over the politics. And many of them are from military clique, so they tend to have recourse to violence. They violate journalists if they think the report will be disadvantage for them. Moreover, in June, press got a paper which regulates reports.
After Taliban regime collasped, there are 10 daily newspapers, 321 other newspapers, 10 TV stations, and more than 20 radio stations. And the literacy rate of men are 43% and that of women are 14% in Afghanistan. So TV and radio is important for Afghan people.
But, on the other hand, there is a good news. During Taliban regime, women are not allowed to get a job. Now, some women are working as journalists.
I am shocked at this article. After Taliban regime collasped, Afghan prople are having many ways to get information. But, because of the people who sympathize with Taliban, Afghan prople cannot get information which people should know. This situation is not good. I think this situation will be better, if the number of members of Congress from military clique become smaller and smaller. I hope the day when people can get all information come soon. And I am glad to know that Afghan women can have chances to work. I think more women involved in the society will be good effect on Afghanistan.
