New president of South Korea

South Korea had a presidential election. Lee Myung Bak has won the election and the government became conservative after an interval of ten years. He had announced that the relationship between Japan and South Korea should move on to next stage, and Japanese government anticipates improvement in relations. However, to see his background, it seems it is not that simple. He was born in Japan and went back to Korea after the war end. He lived in poverty in his childhood. When he was a student, he was a leader of the movement against normalizing diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea. I think the situation will be still difficult for Japan.
