Global Issues 4

"The percentage of people living in eztreme poverty has fallen fastest in Asia, notably in China and India. In the rest of the developing world, poverty rates have increased or fallen only slightly." (from miniatlas of Millennium Development Goals) This information is about poverty. (1995-2003) Over 50% of people were living on less than $1 a day in Niger, Nigeria, Uganda and other some African countries.
In worldwide, 1.1 billion people were living on less than $1 a day in 2001.
Then, how about Japan? Thesedays, also in Japan, some people mentions a cleavage in Japanese society between the rich and the poor. But I feel we can easilly get food and waste food easilly in our consumption-oriented society. I am sure that it is necessary to notice that we waste things around us in daily life.
