iPS cells

Popular American scientific magazine “Science” had announced this year’s top 10 research work. The research for induced pluripotent stem cells, or iPS cells, succeeded to develop first time in the world by Prof. Yamanaka at Kyoto University was ranked in second place. iPS cells have possibility to develop into various types of cells, like organ or tissue cells. It was made from skin, and brings less ethical problem than embryonic stem (ES) cells which is made by breaking fertilized egg. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology announced to support this research while U.S. is quickly catching up with Japan for their deep capital and resources of brains. As Japan is the first country to succeed, I hope Japan to have authority for this iPS cells.

I was surprise to hear that Japan was a first country that succeded in develpoing ips cells. However this news can make people sad because reproduction might be a easy thing. Can life be treated that easily? I do not think so. If we still continue artificial birth there will be a trouble that might endanger species of human beings, I suspect.

The success of iPS cell is very good news for many heavy patients. And if we got serious decease, we can live long until our lives end. We aren't the God. We just want to know what the living bodies are. Clone technology is a hot potato for human.
