the bank of koalas' sperms

Yesterday, in Australia, 12 koalas appeard to the public. These koalas are born by artificial insemination. The group of Queensland University succeeded to keep koalas' sperms for 40 days. They are planning to found the bank of koalas' sperms. I was surprised about this news because even though we have already had a technique to keep human sperms, we had not have it for koalas'. I think it maybe good if such technique can be applied to other animals in danger of extinction.
