Christmas tree can be a factor of a fire

Today is Dec 12. So Christmas is just around the corner. The town overflows with beautiful illuminations. They make our feelings happy. On the other hand, a Chinese mayor in Guang dong prohibited people from exhibiting Christmas trees at public places, restaurants, supermarket, and shopping mall. He explained that the decorations have a possibility of causing a fire. In this city, if people break the rule, legal measures such as suspension of business are applied. Certainly, there are more fire in winter compared to summer because of the dry-weather, but I think it will rob people of their pleasure and amusement even children's dream. I am wondering about existence of other ways to prevent fire due to Christmas trees.
